Metal Gennari took its first steps with the production of telescopic sheet metal covers: born as simple protections for the sliding guides of machine tools, they have evolved to become an integral element of the machine fairing.
These are necessary and high-precision devices that allow perfect operation of the machine, avoiding malfunctions and heavy extraordinary maintenance costs. They can be built in iron or stainless steel, with variable thicknesses and equipped with essential accessories for correct operation such as shoes, rollers, shock absorbers and oil scraper, specially selected to fulfill their task for long periods.
Our designers always start from the customer’s needs and build an ad hoc product of great precision, guaranteeing a high quality of the material used.
We are able to study innovative and special solutions: In case of massive presence of lubricating-coolant liquid it is advisable to use stainless steel. Metal Gennari produces stainless steel telescopic of any shape and size.

In order to provide a complete service to the customer, Metal Gennari is able to carry out the revision of any telescopic cover at its headquarters and with an estimate, (including the possible replacement of each single element), whenever possible and economically advantageous.

- Replacement of shoes, rollers, shock absorbers and any accessories that the cover is equipped with.

In the event that the roof is too damaged, a new roof can be constructed by taking the construction data from the sample provided.
In addition to the production of traditional telescopic handlers, our Technical Department is available for the design of customized applications based on the problems due to the continuous evolution of the machine tool, for example the translation speed and the massive presence of liquids.
High speed telescopic covers
A fundamental element in the design of a telescopic cover is the travel speed. Up to a speed of 15 meters per minute, telescopic covers do not require special shock-absorbing measures (except in special cases). From 15 to 30 meters / min. it is necessary to cushion the impact between the elements with special accessories to ensure a longer life. From 30 to 60 m / min, a pantograph is mounted on the roof which, thanks to the “accordion” movement, avoids any type of stop and provides uniform opening of the elements.
Special applications – Example 1
Example of special telescopic for parallel lathe equipped with double pantograph and 5 rows of interlocking brass autoguides. These measures are adopted in situations of high speed as they guarantee, in addition to a uniform opening, greater cohesion of the elements and a lower risk of intrusion of the same.
Special applications – Example 2
Example of special telescopic for mobile column milling machine. The cover must allow a run of 26 meters. It was preferred to double the coverage, in order to ensure greater durability and functionality. Particular attention was paid to the problem of the “watertight” of the elements, interposing particular channels for the recovery of liquids between the various boxes.
Special applications – Example 3
Example of special telescopic for hydrostatic support machines. This solution totally eliminates the possibility of infiltrations, as independent heat-sealed PVC bellows are applied between the individual elements. Alternatively, being able to have 2 distinct areas for guide support, it is advisable to use a single bellows that opens under the telescopic.
